Helping Community Members Become Confident Learners of Health Information and Health Concepts
Fiteracy workshops aim to help community members translate " health language" into language we can all understand.
Fiteracy workshops encourage community members to become " engaged learners" in health concepts and create "co-learning" environments for health professionals, community organisations and community members to learn and discuss the latest evidence-based health information together.

Using Fiteracy in Child and Adult Health
During the 15 years Brodie worked with babies and their parents/carers , she applied her father's research to assist families to learn how to read together.
As the parents/ carers and children were learning to become confident learners during the first 5 years of their babies lives, Brodie's Fiteracy programs began to include learning about health concepts such as exercise, nutrition and other lifestyle concepts.
" The children and families were loving learning to read, write and communicate together, so including health concepts was easy to apply using the Cambourne's Conditions of Learning and the Principles of Engagement "
As Brodie began to work with the grandparents of these children, her delivery of health programs and health education programs expanded into programs for adults and older adults.
Brodie's Exercise Physiology programs naturally apply the Cambourne's Conditions of Learning and the Principles of Engagement to assist people of all ages to increase their confidence in learning about human health and behaviour.
Now she would like to assist health professionals and community members with applying the Cambourne's Conditions of Learning to help people of all ages feel confident to learn about health topics and feel supported in their attempt to learn about health.
The Fiteracy Workshops have been developed to cater for health professionals to provide guidance on applying the Conditions of Learning to the " delivery of health information" so as health professionals can create co-learning environments between themselves and their clients/patients.
